President Trump’s infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci on Tuesday called the coronavirus his “worst nightmare” and warned that the fight against its spread is far from over.
The bleak outlook from Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, comes as the US continues to slowly reopen from lockdown while grappling with massive protests in cities over the police killing of George Floyd.
“In a period of four months, it has devastated the whole world,” Fauci said during a virtual appearance at a conference held by Biotechnology Innovation Organization. “And it isn’t over yet.”
Fauci added that there is still a world of uncertainty around the virus and how it spreads and impacts the body. He said COVID-19 is much more complex that HIV, a virus he spent his career studying, because of the varying levels of seriousness in infections — from asymptomatic carriers to patients who develop fatal conditions.
“Oh my goodness,” Fauci added. “Where is it going to end? We’re still at the beginning of really understanding.”

Add: probably not a lot of transmission from the asymptomatic.
And, it’s possible the available pool of potential infectees is limited due to natural, genetic/inherited immunity. I just saw that article a couple of days ago.
Here’s a question: If the tests are flawed on the positive side and someone who has no symptoms doesn’t transmit, how could anyone know the rate of transmission?

Does Azar have Big Pharma connections?
I have followed their numbers (and they are crap) as well as the primary information from every state board if health. I have had daily briefings as I am a front line provider.
You statement, something is going to get you dont let it be you, speaks as to the fear that THEY want you to feel. There is little if any asymptomatic spread (that truth escaped them in a moment of honest). There I not a whole lot of risk unless you are significantly ill — and I do not diminish that you have someone at risk — or well over 65.
These are the facts, and they are not in dispute.
It’s funny you haven’t heard, Doc - they found a cure. In fact it’s a riot!
I am sure ExDemMom can pull out her calculator and credentials definitively stating that we have avoided 200M cases (she has a really special calculator)
But the truth of the matter is that we cannot know. We do know its not ebola or the plague and that the death rate under 65 is a paltry 0.08%
But we destroyed the economy for that.
Fauci the Fraud
Well, I'm glad to hear that, considering everything this guy has said in the past was dead wrong...
Where does Worldometer get their figures? WHO? Various national CDCs? We know figures are being cooked.
I am 77 with risk factors. I _think_ both my husband and myself had light cases in April. I realize you are cautious for reasons (saw your other post above), but getting it, for you, is not a certain death sentence.
If you are dealing with a late-stage cancer patient, then, sure, they are immuno-compromised. But, Rush, with stage 4 lung cancer, got a virus last month and he is still around, after a week or less in the hospital with chemo complications, to boot. You don’t want to take a chance, but even someone on chemo is not certain to die from a virus.
Just take some time to vet the articles and maybe give yourself a break from the added stress.
Now just how did I intuit that? /s
