Interestingly too, in the Rwanda Genocide, where the Hulus were largely slaughtering the Tutsis, a black US reporter who wrote a great book about it thought he would be safe, being American AND a black man, so he was in the middle of it.
Until he found to his dismay that much of the violence was perpetrated on the basis of certain physical attributes attributed to one tribe or the other, and in his genetic makeup, he had the wrong physical attributes from somewhere in his past.
He was definitely a black man who “got mugged” and viewed America quite differently when he returned to it.
In the Middle East the darkest skinned Arabs or those who have African features are treated like second class citizens by their “Muslim brothers.”
