Having to recant truth in public is a hallmark of communist society. It is known as self-denunciation.
The media have become the equivalent of those local committees that made sure everyone in every town or city neighborhood was parrotting the party line. The penalty for speaking out was often a long vacation in Siberia, if you were that lucky.
We are gradually edging towards that sort of outcome in our supposedly free countries. Enough is enough, speak your mind and if it offends the professional scolds, you’ll know you were probably right.
Who was in charge of the MPD system? I’d bet there are Democrats in every part of the power structure from the mayor to the city council to the police board to the police chief. Minneapolis, you own this problem.
