I might point out that PolitiFact’s claim also omitted important context: that deaths in encounters with police as a function of race can only be fairly compared in terms of the number of contacts with police (if you never interact with police, you will never get killed by them), and the crime rate for the various races (and it is commission of crimes that generally precipitates encounters with law enforcement) is different for those various races.
IF black lives mattered - if it wasn't just a stunt to express hatred for police - it would seem the thousands of black men killed by other black men would matter.
They don't... not to the movement.
