The future of war is robots with AI.
There’s nothing we can do to stop it.
Let’s hope they don’t go to war against us.

they will run on fuel, and have robot tankers behind them.
eventually.
there will also be crew vehicles in the same AI cluster.
100 HP and gears is all you need.

“or where the unmanned armor is protected by total airspace domination”

that’s the plan.

mechanized forces have always been 100% reliant on air dominance.

Soon armor and air will act as part of the same cluster.
Some adversaries will be dug in, and therefore require machines on the ground.

“The balance is not going all the flyboys’ way.”

Sure it is.

An F-35 can carry anywhere from 8-16 of these:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GBU-53/B

And can see a moving vehicle from nearly 100 miles away. And then target it from 40,000 feet.

There is no mobile armor anti-aircraft system in the world that can threaten any aircraft at 40,000 ft. And the CBU-105 from the same altitude takes out entire columns of armor.

Armor without Infantry support has a short lifespan in offensive maneuvers, as well as in hull defilade defense. No tank has enough vision to see all threats on the battlefield when buttoned up.

Armored warfare is too complex for AI to replace a good tank crew.

new tanks have 360 deg view

IronVision is a 360-degree panoramic situational awareness system, part of Elbit’s See-Through Armor (STA) architecture, that enables tank and infantry crewmen to “see-through” their vehicle’s armor in real-time, creating a clear and complete visualization of the battlefield, even when the hatches are down.

The Israelis have already pointed out the SDB is no threat to a tank platoon with Trophy ACS. The Russian equivalent is about equally capable.

Hate to tell you, but the Russians have demonstrated that they *can* hit aircraft at 40K. The Buk missile system can hit out to 40-44K+. Just ask people on Flight MH17.

Buks accompany armor units into battle.

That is a risk, but to be fair, it will be greatly reduced if they use almost any other operating system but Windows.

Even conventional manned armored fighting vehicles are optimized for combat, not for crew comfort. Eliminating the crew allows more space for fuel, ammunition, and other mechanical functions. The exterior appearance does not change much.

The company website makes clear that the vehicles are intended to operate under a combination of AI and remote control. For Estonia and other small, prosperous, technically proficient nations, such unmanned fighting vehicles offer the prospect of becoming tough enough to deter large, aggressive neighbors.

But so far the Buk system has not proved effective in actual combat in Syria against Israeli planes and missiles, and is among the first systems to go during a raid. Civilian planes are sitting ducks

More Type-X info from the article:

The company believes that the Type-X has a number of advantages over the current type of infantry fighting vehicles. First, it's almost twice cheaper.

In addition, with its 12 tons (26,455 lbs), it is almost three times lighter than an IFV, which means that the Type-X has improved mobility and is easier to carry and drop by aircraft like the C-130.

Being only 2.20 m (87 in.) high 2.90m (114 in.) wide and 6 m (236 in.) long, the Type-X also has a lower profile and smaller volume than most IFVs, making it difficult to spot in the field, a crucial advantage even more favored by its low heat signature.

At the same time, it is fitted with a 2-ton turret armed with a 30mm automatic gun, optionally a 50mm one, which makes the Type-X as lethal as most of the other IFVs.

The system benefits from a low maintenance cost because it has been designed with maintenance in mind, using the LRU-principle. Hybrid powertrain and rubber tracks will reduce costs significantly.

Milrem Type-X is modular and, hence, can be adapted to many roles (Picture source: Milrem Robotics>

Type-X is easy to upgrade for it is built following a fully modular approach (sensors and other components can be upgraded), capable of carrying multiple payloads based on the same interface. Like the THeMIS, Type-X is multifunctional.

This means that its cannon can be replaced with an anti-aircraft system, a mortar, or a radar if necessary. It can also be used as a transport platform for equipment and soldiers.

The Buk missile system cannot target the F-35 at any altitude, much less hit one.

I looked into the Trophy APS, I cannot find a single reference to SDB. But these APS are not designed to protect from a threat directly above. Their ASEA radar doesn’t even point that direction.
