We have been to D.C. with 200,000 - 500,000 thousand people
as have others here on FR. We did not see any troops there nor did we see piles of trash when we left. What are the odds that this will be 100% peaceful and no trash on the streets when they leave?
It’s going to be filled with crap, literally and figuratively.
I recall the Vietnam protests from 68-72. The Washington Post actually had people counting the crowd from aerial pictures to gauge its size accurately. It was a different WaPo back then, and honest about most things. Just so people here know, and are not fooled by press reports which will exaggerate todays crowd, 500,000 people fill the entire Elipse behind the White House and the Washington Monument grounds all the way to Independence Avenue. For 1,000,000 people, add to that a crowd that fills the Mall from 14th to 3rd Street.
Todays protest will be nowhere near that level. For one thing, the logistics of assembling that many people require that busses and caravans be entering the city for days beforehand, and that temporary shelter be arraigned for them in the meantime. I have seen no such activity in the D.C. area.
Depends on how smart the leaders are. If they’re smart, Steyer and Soros will hire a cleanup crew of environmentalists to keep things spiffy. If they’re their usual selves, they’ll just leave it and blame Trump for not cleaning it up fast enough..
