As an aside, my son, who did a masters program at seminary selects home churches when he moves based on whether they have an Awana program. He says that a running Awana program is a good indicator that the church actually believes the Bible as the Word of God. His daughter completed the Bible verse memory program while she was in high school.

My kids attended Awana when we went to a Baptist Church.

They loved it as they learned Bible verses and stories, and had to memorize versus to recite for the following week.

They had outdoor activities each week after the indoor activities were completed.

There were at least 100 kids who attended each Wednesday.

This was early to late ‘90’s and I don’t know what it’s like now.
