Trump Tweet regarding General Mattis
Twitter ^ | Jun 3, 2020 | President Trump

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

Probably the only thing Barack Obama & I have in common is that we both had the honor of firing Jim Mattis, the world’s most overrated General. I asked for his letter of resignation, & felt great about it. His nickname was “Chaos”, which I didn’t like, & changed to “Mad Dog”...

...His primary strength was not military, but rather personal public relations. I gave him a new life, things to do, and battles to win, but he seldom “brought home the bacon”. I didn’t like his “leadership” style or much else about him, and many others agree. Glad he is gone!

Looking at that a-hole’s smug face makes me want to fully participate in a blanket party, using socks filled with ball bearings instead of socks filled with bars of soap.

I know. Gad. It really bugs me.

By the way, I remember seeing Dr. Zhivago at the base theater in Yokosuka, Japan (The old Benny Decker theater!) and...as a kid, I didn’t get the movie at all. I thought it was as boring as all get out.

I just rewatched it for the first time last year, and thought it was a damn good movie...there were lots of “messages” there...

I consider Dr. Zhivago the greatest movie ever made.

Why did Trump hire him?

Not a lot of talent around after 8 years of Clinton, 8 of W. and 8 from Obama, mostly all deep state losers.

That whole scene where he comes home to his family, only to find their house has been...requisitioned by the proletariat...

That one really made an impact with me as an adult.

It is a beautifully done movie. I think it is underrated by many, all I have ever heard of is people complaining how boring it was. I thought it was anything but that (as an adult)

You can definitely see history repeating itself. These folks have studied how the Bolsheviks achieved power, and are following it to a T.

I recall many posts and threads around FR where it was clear to many that quality people were being actively forced out to make room for the Leftist “Perfumed Princes”, and people making that observation were derided by some.

I don’t know, it seemed kind of obvious that was happening, but I hoped the military culture would protect itself. Apparently not.

Agree 100%.

How I despise those people.

Thanks for the correction. He was a great commander in Iraq, but when you get to the top level you need to understand politics and strategy more than he appears to have been able to.

Good tactician, poor strategist. If he had a better strategy for the Middle East and Afghanistan, I am fairly certain he could have shown that to Trump and would still be Sec Def.

There is a special circle of Hell reserved for that POS.

I did admire him at a point during the first Gulf War, but boy, did he ever end up showing his true colors from the Bush administration onward, and most especially, his lack of a moral compass in the Valerie Plame BS.

He KNEW the whole time that Scooter Libby had zero to do with that, but let him get pilloried and tried on it.

He knew. What an a-hole.

But when his job had more political responsibilities, he clearly got in over his head.

Officer ranks in general are pretty political, although Obama put that into overdrive. I honestly see this as becoming a very real problem down the road. Not that it isn't enough of a problem now.

Why did Trump hire so many nevertrumpers?

Nobody on a government payroll or union wants the gravy train to stop, so the are basically deep state status quo anti-American people, thus, anti-Trump

No, Trump hired a lot of people who don’t agree with his Maga agenda. A lot of them actively opposed him in his campaign.
Why did he do that?

Did he forget this?
I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.
