Didn’t Germany try that in the war, by pumping their frontline soldiers with speed? The stamina of the germans amazed the enemy, at least until they figured out they were all hopped up...
The US military used a lot of amphetamines in WW2 and Vietnam. Gulf War too, although I think their use is much more carefully controlled in recent times.
