As televisions and computers showed a fourth day of protesters turned rioters Saturday, looting and destroying property, it was readily apparent why Americans own 16+ million AR-15s.
When Robert Beto ORourke was still vying for the Democrat nominationand pledging to come take away your AR-15Breitbart News spoke with the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) about what a Herculean task that would be. After all, the AR-15 is the most popular rifle platform in America.
NSSF shared their calculations with Breitbart, showing an estimated 16= million privately owned AR-15s in the U.S.

Reminds me of a fellow’s description of ambushing Indonesian insurgents infiltrating Borneo in river longboats during the Indonesian Confrontation of the early 60s....
AR-15 hit: crumpled and fell down into the boat.
L1A1 or Bren hit: pitched back, and out into the river.
When seconds count, the police are 200 cases away. And they say we dont need guns?
No, but if I see a skateboard, I’ll conclude that it’s time to let it rip
“Only 16 million?”

I’m like you, LouAvul: I think someone’s counting very badly, or trying to keep the uninformed still uninformed.
It’s got to be at least double that amount.
And not everybody’s talking about what they own....including and up to the different types of ammo they have on hand.
But even the sling mounts (and the slings) were entirely gone - just lots of empty hooks.
My local Academy seems to have inventory problems in normal times.
This is probably why these scum are targeting dem strongholds. Almost if not impossible to legally own a gun or the laws they have pertaining to firearms are so draconian that you might as well not own one. If these pieces of excrement do take their looting and rioting to small town America in some states I don’t think it would turn out well for them.
Well, the perp won't be screaming for long.
I carried..for years without a CC piece of paper. I did take the class...though.
Then OK...became an OC state...and free to CC....
I've not seen or heard of any problems...
Maybe if other states...adopted these "ideas"..there would be less BS going on...
(thereby making the Ruger Mini-14 much more popular)
True. However, in the early 1980s a Ruger Mini-14 was impossible to find as they were being bought up by France as a police rifle.
Some real junk AR-15s were being made at the time by these fly-by-night companies who were buying up all the old demilled M-16s and using the parts on a new made receiver. The one I had actually key holed every other shot at 50 yards. SGW was the brand.
I traded it off around 1990 for an AK-47/s and bought a bunch of ammo for it. When I got it home, I cleaned it and noticed the bolt face to be too small for a .30 RS. It turned out to be an AK in .223. Now I was stuck with a bunch of .30 RS ammo.
I don’t shop @ Academy...buy all my ammo on-line.
Just remember folks a typical battle pack is at least 200 rounds and that assumes you are being supported by friends.
Good luck trying to find an AR right now. They all vanished this weekend.
If 16 million plus AR’s are in the hands of lawful citizens, why are there so Many stores being looted and owners beaten across the nation? Something unusual here, but I guess “ owning “ an AR ( or shotgun, handgun) is much , much different than using an AR. Maybe all the looting and burning will wake up the subjects of the leftist states? Me thinks by election time all this mayhem will only get worse....unless of course good people with firearms do the right thing- use them. Protecting your property and life IS justified, especially when your police and National a Guard retreat and run away. On that note: I have not read about much rioting in any “ Red” states.
That is correct. Look at which boroughs, counties and parishes Donald Trump won vs the ones that Hillary won and you can see that virtually all the rioting, looting and violence are in the blue areas of the map below. If you live anywhere that's red, you are very safe.
I dont shop @ Academy...buy all my ammo on-line.I buy my ammo online as well (and my Fedex guy hates me). The sling mount was a spur-of-the-moment thought as I was driving around on Saturday. I'm generally more of a pistol chick, but figured that if things were to get especially weird in my neighborhood, it might not be a bad idea to finally attach the sling I bought 2 years ago. (Yes, I'm a procrastinator.)
My daughter just informed me there will be a protest march about 2 miles from my house.
I trying to decide what to use to meet the threat.
