“The President cannot send troops until/unless the state governors ask for them.”

Wallace didn’t ask for troops, but he got them, anyhow. “On June 10, 1963, President John F. Kennedy FEDERALIZED NATIONAL GUARD troops and deployed them to the University of Alabama to force its desegregation. The next day, Governor Wallace yielded to the federal pressure”

You are right, of course, but Wallace was defying, and using his National Guard to defy a Federal Court ruling. The same circumstance held a few years earlier in Little Rock. I don’t know what powers the President has when state governors either cannot or will not see state laws against rioting, looting, etc. enforced.

I know they hate President Trump with a white-hot passion. But are they willing to let their cities burn to show solidarity with other Trump haters? There are a whole lot more people in the Twin Cities and Minnesota shaking their heads no at this than are participating in the riots. I just can’t see how this helps democrats in any way.
