I’m going to take a marker and write OBEY on the front of my mask.

If you sneeze in a grocery store in many states it would be like setting off the fire alarm ...

Fighting against the grossly anti-social mask-wearing and "distancing" fads since the very beginning, and watching as these ineffective practices took hold across America weeks after the Chinese virus had "peaked", practices which continue to expand, I know longer care why this is so. I just want to know what has to occur before they end. (Note: Since the beginning of May I've asked several of the highly frightened members of this forum what it would take -- what must happen -- before they are able to recover from their fear, recognize the serious damage to our social fabric caused by the dehumanizing practice of mask-wearing/identity hiding and the grossly anti-social "distancing", and call for the end of these ineffective, despicable practices. Disappointingly, I have yet to receive the courtesy of a response from any of these scared individuals.)

I am not and never have been onboard with this mask insanity.

HOWEVER.....

Given the fact that the WHO is completely OWNED and CONTROLLED by the ChiComs, I think we are forced to consider the fact that this could also be a bit of disinfo intended to keep second waves going.

As always consider the source.

Though it would be fun to post this on YouTube and watch them tie themselves in knots over what to do about it.

That is the method we normally follow in the hospitals. For those caring for those with droplet precautions or for those undergoing sterile surgical procedures we wear masks. Otherwise the masks aren’t advisable to wear...normally.

So it is wise to wear masks for those caring for known symptomatic covid patients.

“Taiwan, and just about every other country in Asia (where the deaths and infection rates are far lower than here)...”

The variables between Taiwan and the USA are vastly greater than just “wear a mask”. Same is true of most Asian countries. You cannot draw a conclusion about one variable when there are a hundred present.

Where are most the deaths in America? In places that lock down and require masks everywhere, or other states? If I had to ride a NYC subway, I’d want a full body suit and a scuba tank. But when I go to WalMart in Arizona....

I’ve noticed that in my daily ESPN Korean baseball telecast the mask usage has really gotten lax. Coaches and managers have either stopped wearing them or wear them down on their chins, and the umpires generally have their noses sticking out. They must have gotten the word early.

Virus “particles” are very small, but are not the complete problem. They are carried on droplets of mucous and saliva from an infected person, which are much bigger. Dust masks can stop these larger droplets. Viruses floating around in free air are generally not the problem.

Part of your statement is somewhat accurate, but part is speculation stated as fact. Active viral particles floating around in “free air” can definitely be a problem, how the problem compares to virus carried on droplets of saliva is not known. Depending on the situation and concentration they could be more of a problem than virus in mucous and saliva. The types of masks people are wearing give no meaningful protection against particles floating around in free air or aerosolized saliva and mucous. To the extent that they collect particles and mucous they can become a vector for transmission when people handle them and touch the areas around their mouth, nose and eyes. They tend to make people's noses itchy so after people remove them they often use their unwashed hands to rub their noses.

If you are wearing a mask and it is collecting particles of virus on droplets of mucus then as the mucus dries

"Part of your statement is somewhat accurate, but part is speculation stated as fact."

The statement applies to your post, as well, though I'm not so sure about the first half.
