New York is getting lapped on restaurant reopenings by a city that cant even do pizza right.
Chicago has released a 13-page list of guidelines for how its eateries can safely resume on-premises service amid the coronavirus pandemic, while Big Apple Mayor Bill de Blasio remains short on answers.
The Windy City issued the pointers on Tuesday, according to Eater, painting a picture of what a night out in the city could soon look like.
Tables will be placed at least six feet apart, or have a permanent barrier, such as Plexiglass, installed between them, while parties at one table should be capped at six people, the pamphlet reads.
Patrons must always wear face coverings except, of course, when eating, while employees should cover up in protective gear at all times.
Potential Petri dishes such as self-service food and drink stations will be packed away for the time being.
According to Eater, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has said that the city will begin outdoor dining before June 10.
New York City, by contrast, could enter phase one of its reopening as early as June 1, but de Blasio has been stingy with specifics on everything from getting around on public transit to what rules must be followed by those sectors eligible to resume, to the frustration of business owners and lawmakers.
While the first phase does not includes eateries but rather low-risk industries like construction, manufacturing and curbside pick-up retail city restaurant and bar owners have still been among those clamoring for guidance.

The Big Apple is starting to look like The Rotten Apple.
This will kill whats left of the restaurant business in Chicago.

When I go out to dinner, I like it to be an enjoyable experience, not to make me feel like a lab rat or in prison.
I said the exact same thing. I go out to dinner they have a enjoyable time with friends or family, not to feel like Im walking around with a plague that will kill someone if I dare take my mask off 7 feet away from the table. These dont sound like enjoyable dining experiences to me.
If it is safe enough for me to takeoff the mask while eating, why is it too dangerous for me to have to wear a mask to walk through the door to the table. I would think generally having your mouth closed while the hostess brings you to the table will be very low risk compared to actually opening your mouth eating or conversing with your friends and family at the table.
I was just watching on Laura Ingra-ham that Warren Wilhem doesn’t even have a plan to begin to re-open NYC restaurants.
This person is completely useless!
I just returned from dinner at Sake Cafe in Pensacola with my friend and two ladies, and that place was packed, 100% full. It was without a doubt the best sushi I have ever had in my life, and I have to say it felt outstanding to socialize and have delicious food and a Sapporo beer.
Only the staff wore masks, not a single other patron had one on. I felt for them having to work as hard as they were in this masks, because I know that I could not. I also understand that they must, as per their boss’s orders, and I respect them for following those orders. I tipped our waiter high, and told him I would definitely be back.
It’s time to stand up and reclaim our freedom. Everyone, now is the time.

Starting to look?
It’s been a rotten apple, for years.
Bring back Guiliani.
Maybe not once people start going back into restaurants human nature and
the mask thing will relax. People will wear them when enter and when they leave but not the time while they are there.
This is all starting to sound like that scene in Close Encounters of The Third Kind where Richard dreyfuss takes off the mask and everybody emerging the helicopter expected him to call over dead.
honest,
If I went to Uno’S and only one or two tables were seated??
About the right size...
Chicago style Pizza is better anyway.
I loved that post and miss the dining experience. I also miss sports.
This headline seems silly to me. I mean it’s not like people in NY can just go out to dinner in Chicago, or vice versa.
The mayor of Boston doesn’t have a plan to reopen Boston. he keeps saying that he has to follow the science whatever that’s supposed to mean. Our governor and the mayor are getting no media attention for their failure to reopen the state.
“Follow the science” seems to be among a number of phrases designed to get us to accept this new normal.
Now, more than ever, home is what brings us together.
We’re all in this together.
This type of thing right here is mass mind control in action.
Reject it all!
Regardless of anything this virus does or does not do, meaning we’re stuck with it for a while, we now have the more immediate threat of a political party and it’s elected officials actively destroying peoples’ lives for the sole purpose of political gain of power.
There are tyrants afoot, and they are on the move exploiting this event just like the China did. Absolutely outrageous!
I’ve become an awesome copycat cook.
Looks like I’ll be doing it for a while longer.
Note to the restaurant biz: You need me, I don’t need you. Continue to kowtow to this crap at your peril.
