Mine, too. Unless these billionaires “fell into” their wealth (it DOES happen, I suppose) one would think they would want to back an achiever rather than a buffoon.

Silicon Valley houses something new: an ultra-wealthy (viz., the Krupps times ten) and esoterically intellectual elite (viz., the nuclear physicists of the early nineteen hundreds), holding fascist tendencies. It is entirely a new totalitarianism. It can survive and thrive thanks to the fact that the military (which historically has interfered in the struggle for power) is effectively isolated and of no importance. It despises democracy (viz., the Bolsheviki); it knows how to use the media (viz.,Beobachter, Trud, Pravda) to retain its power, and the educational elite (viz. German universities) to prolong it. The Constitution they consider as valid as the Munich protocol. Before this is through, much blood will be shed.
