The agency also said that antibody tests shouldn't be used to make important decisions about re-opening.
The Food and Drug Administration has also said that antibody tests are not reliable.

The CDC has released new guidance on antibody tests, warning that they can be wrong half the time and shouldn't be used to inform important policy decisions.
The antibody test, also known as a serologic test, is a blood test that checks the body to see if it has antibodies that can fight COVID-19, and can help people figure out if they had COVID-19 and recovered.
The immune system creates antibodies to fight disease, and often these antibodies remain in the body after recovery, and can be donated to people currently fighting coronavirus.
But this medical test is often inaccurate. Sometimes the test can result in a false positive, wrongly suggesting a patient does have coronavirus-fighting antibodies, or a false negative.
"Serologic test results should not be used to make decisions about grouping persons residing in or being admitted to congregate settings, such as schools, dormitories, or correctional facilities," it says on the CDC website. "Serologic test results should not be used to make decisions about returning persons to the workplace."

I had a guy today come in to ask me about his antibody test for Covid-19. It was positive, but he’s had no symptoms, has basically been at home for two months, hasn’t gone out, and when he does he’s covered.. Knows no one with the virus. So, his company wants to know if he can return to work, or also, should he be tested for the virus now.
I am sure that his antibody is from a prior infection
The vaccine might be available by November.
Oh, that settles it.

Says the CDC, who couldn’t develop a test for months and prevented anyone else from developing one.
I read the article and you may be right, but the article isnt specific. I know that Abbott came out with a Coronavirus antibody test.
OK...
Abbott PR seems to indicate that their COVID-19 test is a reference to virus, not antibodies.

Is there anything reliable coming from these Ass hats?
Here is a brief explanation of the building blocks one needs to calculate the “positive predictive value” (PPV) of an antibody test. The PPV gives the probability that you have antibodies to COVID-19, given that you tested positive for them. The formula is just an application of Bayes’ Law, which some of you may remember from a college stat class.

The article says this, The CDC has released new guidance on antibody tests, warning that they can be wrong half the time and shouldn’t be used to inform important policy decisions.
Dont know where youve come up with 5% inaccuracy.
Ive looked at various reports that showed stats of the antigen tests made by different companies. I can try to look for it. But, 95% was the lowest %. I read the report (not a news article) a couple of weeks ago. .
Because they’re showing a high incidence, which means a low death rate, and that doesn’t fit the narrative.
While there was a time that the CDC was a professional and trustworthy organization those days are decades in the past and now one must take anything they say with not just a grain but a whole beach of sand.
