well, the coronavirus must be doing a terrible job with that “strategy”, because most people recover from coronavirus(most actually develop antibodies without even knowing they’ve contracted the virus),whereas essentially no one ever recovers from HIV, but are simply kept alive by taking a daily panoply of antivirals their entire lives ...

Wait, what? Do you remember HIV - pre antivirals? Most got infected and were asymptomatic for around 5-7 years before showing symptoms. Some got a mild flu like illness when they seroconverted.

An HIV test does not test for virus. It only tests for antibodies.
