MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The FBI has been called to investigate after a man died Monday night in south Minneapolis after an encounter with police.
In a statement early Tuesday, police described what happened as a medical incident. However, a video posted on social media shows an officer kneeing a man’s neck to the ground for several minutes. Before he goes unconscious, the man, who is black, repeatedly tells officers he can’t breathe.
At a press conference Tuesday morning, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey alluded to the graphic footage, saying: “I believe what I saw, and what I saw was wrong at every level.”

So the cop KNEW exactly where to place his knee and how long to keep it there?
Is there video of him readjusting his knee to make sure the artery was completely blocked?
I imagine there is video of him looking at his watch to make sure he kept his knee on the artery for 6-7 minutes?
I must have missed the part of the video showing his death at the spot of the arrest. He died right there correct?

Second-guessing many police activities can lead to wrong impressions, but we kid ourselves to think they are all halo-wearing angels in the field. I know several police officers who like to brag about things they’ve done to purposely escalate the situation just to get into a physical confrontation. It’s probably a small segment of any force, but it’s appreciable and needs to be addressed...

Actually, that is not accurate. We all hear about the wall of silence, etc in today’s hit movies. But that’s just drama.
The ratio is that cops are about 50 times more likely to find and punish wrongdoing in their own ranks than doctors or attorneys.
Look in any state. There are licensing certification boards for sworn law enforcement, doctors, and attorneys.
In most states you can look at the number of internal complaints, suspensions, and revocations.
In every state ive bothered to research, police are about 50 times more likely to investigate and refer individuals to the licensing board for revocation than doctors or attorneys.
Think about it, when is the last time you have heard of a doctor being stripped of his license because other doctors complained? How often do attorneys get disbarred as the result of a complaint from other attorneys? But with police in most states it is almost a constant stream of minor suspensions, stripping of certifications, terminations, and arrests for all types of offenses.
They are more trustworthy to look into misconduct than pop-culture would indicate. And it usually takes a little longer than 24 hours.
The FBI has no place in a local incident. The FBI is FAR more corrupt than any local department ever dreamed of. Randy Weaver? They put out an order that any armed adult male can and should be shot on sight. That is blatantly illegal under US law...no consequences. They framed and blackmailed Flynn...no consequences. They lied and said they fired no shots at Lavoy Finicum... when proven they did and lied... no consequences.
The FBI is the only agency in America at this point that doesn’t use body cams, refuses to name agents who use force, and doesn’t record interactions, preferring to just write down what the interviewee said.

Black privilege does not extend to black victims of black perpetrators.
What we call Black Privilege, insofar as it relates to harm done to any black persons by non-black persons, is really a wedge used to support the narrative that blacks, as a collective entity, an abstraction of persons, are oppressed and hated, that injuries to some, even those long dead, are by means of it transmitted to others by the proxy of their race even though they may have never suffered themselves.
The narrative artificially erases the distinction between being affected and being afflicted.
And this narrative is so vital to those who trade in it they can latch onto anything that supports it, ignoring what doesn’t.
Make no mistake, I’m not saying this guy was somehow in the wrong rather than having been wronged ... I don’t know that and I wouldn’t assume that ... but only talking about something that ultimately will reduce his real circumstances to be incidental — he and his death will be used by them no matter the truth. His Black Privilege is that the race pimps can use him no matter what he might have thought too.
Ironically, I would consider not being so usable to some race narrative as a white person to actually be a “privilege” of sorts. Nobody particularly cares about what happens to me because I’m white, no one can pimp for their purposes anything that happens to me either.
You might get a little perspective of what this victim was experiencing on the concrete before he died........
Several times the cops response to subjects plea was to shift his weight forward to stop speech. The can’t breath/can’t speak standard works with belly chains, not pressure on the airway. It is possible to speak with your last breath. He should have moved his knee to subjects shoulder blade and checked to see if resistance had ceased. A cop who takes resistance or even assault personally shouldn’t be a cop.
This was at least depraved indifference, if not intentional murder.

Knowing how chokes work, 5 minutes will kill. Heck anything more than 30 seconds of a genuine choke is getting very dangerous, but generally speaking, two minutes of a choke is sufficient to kill.
Normally I take the side of police, because I like police for the most part, but this guy appears to have committed murder for no reason. Throw the book at him, and that doesn’t help the poor dead man at all.
I trust no FBI agent nor police officer in the slightest. Any and all agents of the state when using force on a Citizen are guilty until proved otherwise.

Let's let the street dole out justice from now on. There would be few if any repeat offenses and the higher ups would not have their protection in place to keep justice at bay. Folks like the ones currently robbing us blind from their thrones in Washington DC would not have a long shelf life.

There was a time when I would have argued against this, but I have become of the mind that if those entrusted with power over others abuse that power, then that power should be permanently removed.

I live in a rural area, know many of the deputies and police. All the deputies have sleeve tats and roided up and go around with a scowl.

Multiple sources identified the other officer who is prominently featured in the video as Tou Thao.
Freddie Gray wasn’t shot. He died of a spinal injury after being put into a police van without a seatbelt, handcuffed. Rough ride?
He looked like he was having trouble walking before being put into the van.
