“”Hanging Governor Beshear in effigy is beyond reprehensible, and yet it is also the logical conclusion of the hateful rhetoric we saw touted on the Capitol grounds earlier this month that was implicitly condoned by elected representatives from the legislatures majority party,” Kentucky House Democratic leaders said in a statement. “Doing this in front of our Capitol, just a short walk from where the Governor, First Lady, and their two young children live, is an act that reeks of hate and intimidation and does nothing but undermine our leading work to battle this deadly disease and restore our economy safely.”
I would say it wasn’t reprehensible, an *actual hanging* would have been reprehensible.
I would say it was a warning. Doesn’t take too much for a mob to go from acting out to just acting.....
Mobs are scary things. Angry mobs, even more so.
Too bad the Gov’s name wasn’t Effigy.
A little toy with a tiny noose outside the capitol in Michigan was an opening for absurd media nonsense about armed Deplorables invading Lansing and threatening Whitmer's life.
And the same three or four guys with beards and non handsome faces were shown on thousands of TV segments as representative of the crowd.
99% of the crowd was composed of the unemployed or forced to shut down small business owners who were helpless to oppose a raving governor's weekly power trip edicts. Not those three or four guys or the one with a little toy doll.
As to historical hangings, don't they remember people were hanged in the Old West days? Not simply lynching of black people. All races were hanged at various times and there was a court sentence "death by hanging". Everyone working in the news industry now thinks it all centers around black people only.
This leaves an opening for a Gene Wilder Blazing Saddles quote:
"They said you were hung."
"They were right."
After seeing the documentary about the BTK killer, you may start to worry about people who do all this stuff with dolls and effigies and bondage and nooses.
Since nobody demanded an explanation, you must all be shy. See, two visitors from Kentucky were at the Ford Theater that night. They came to see a girly show or a western, but instead they were treated to a warmup act, Pagliacci. Here’s their reaction.

The next production was supposed to be Our American Cousin, and our two friends were thoroughly annoyed by then, having sat through six hours of a fat man singing in a clown suit. So they expected at least a hoochy-coochy dance for some variety. But noooooo! Instead they hear a shot, some idiot jumps out of a balcony onto the stage and shouts “Hic sic semper tyranus,” and they both smacked him for calling them hicks. The blow broke Booth’s ankle. He limped away, the entire theater and our two friends from Kentucky in hot pursuit.
Paul Harvey said so, so it must be true.
Kentuckians deserve Beshear. They should have learned from the two terms his father was governor. The current Beshear is positioning himself to be a future senator. Since Kentuckians are generally looking for the dole, they’ll happily reelect Beshear or elect him to the US Senate.
Just hush, Mitch.
Its kinda dumb.
I launched my boat from a public marina on Saturday.
I went to Macys on Sunday.
I ate out at a real live sit-down restaurant today.
And Im scheduled to get an abortion tomorrow. So whats the problem here in Kentucky?
Im not really getting an abortion tomorrow. Beshear rankled a lot of people by signaling out churches, even drive-thru churches. Also hes kind of a dope. But hes not a Whitler-level asshole.
The Republican Party in Kentucky is alive and well. Bevin would have been re-elected if he had not been a bit too aggressive with the public sector unions (although I agreed with him). Like many states, wherever you crowd too many people in a confined area and make them lose their minds, they end up voting Democrat. Louisville is responsible for the millionaire trustafarian Yarmouth and the biggest piece of shit paper in the country, which is the Courier-Journal. Lexington is also a problem. Both cities have areas where English is not spoken.
The piece of shit paper, the CJ, has the biggest asshole ever as a columnist- Joe Gerth.
That guy is a complete assclown
I vigorously and strenuously concur.
