From what I’ve heard, it’s less transmissible from surfaces than originally thought. While that means I don’t have to do a disinfectant OCD dance each time I get the mail, I still take some precautions after going grocery shopping, since the stores are way peopley.

Exactly. Like ... normal. Pre-WuFlu we’ve been careful like that — unpack our bags and then wash our hands.

Yes, active virus can be picked up from surfaces. It works like this, in part.

Virus without moisture around it will dry out and very quickly become inactive. Virus with human bodily fluid around it will be active longer.

And then there’s the size of a viral load. Less is better.
