why would they go to the trouble of getting a no-knock warrant, and then knock?

And that assessment is from how many years you were in law enforcement? I could just as easily assume they got the no-knock anticipating certain precautions, but when they got there, they decided those precautions weren’t needed.

He doesn’t have to be in law enforcement to recognize bad tactics.
One doesn’t need to be a baker to recognize burnt biscuits.
Demanding only those working in a given field may make judgments is ridiculous.

That assessment is based on the knowledge that you don't need a no-knock warrant in order to knock.

I could just as easily assume they got the no-knock anticipating certain precautions, but when they got there, they decided those precautions weren’t needed.

And this happens a lot - just-in-case no-knock warrants?
