Trump did not push for the wall early on. I know things in government take time. But he did not push for funding when Republicans controlled both houses. Most of the current wall funding comes from reallocation of military funds. He could have done that a month after his inauguration. Ann Coulter lit a fire under Trump. That’s why the wall progress is now at warp speed. And she does have a legitimate point on Jeff Sessions. It was his endorsement of Trump that really cemented Trump’s chances of winning the Republican nomination. I don’t think anybody understood the criminality of what Comey, Brennan et al were up to. I don’t blame Sessions.

“Trump did not push for the wall early on.”

You obviously don’t know what you are talking about.

As I mentioned to you earlier, he issued the governing Executive Order on 25 January 2017 - the fifth day of his Presidency. Meaning that it was being drafted and staffed months prior to his inauguration.

It was an agenda item at every cabinet meeting. It was central to every budget negotiation of his Presidency.

Congress (controlled by Republicans at the time), refused to fund full scale deployment of wall system, until an analysis was done, that answered the questions about the most efficient use of the money - where to put barrier, what was the best design for barrier, what the optimum tradeoffs were between barrier, technology and people; etc..

The Office of Management and Budget, as well as the Congressional Budget Office, always require such analyses and cost justifications of large programs, before they are incorporated into the budget. It is typically 5 to 10 years of such staffing for a multi-billion dollar program, before the fist dollar.

President Trump’s pressure got $400 million added to FY 2017 budget out of hide, and got a wedge of about $1.4 billion per year included into the ten year budget baseline that first year as well. (Ann Coulter was not involved in the budget negotiations).

Don’t you recall the high drama that ensued over every single Trump budget, over the wall? Does the longest Government shutdown in history ring a bell? Declaration of National Emergency? Legal Challenges through the Supreme Court?

President Trump faced fierce political opposition on multiple fronts, defeated it all, and has gotten the money to build the barrier recommended in the Comprehensive Plan. For those of us who have been following it closely, it has been continual, incredible high stakes commitment from the Trump Administration from day one - a top priority throughout.

I doubt that anyone else would have been able to make it happen, without President Trump’s rare combination of World Class real estate developer skills, exceptional management, astute political strategies, and tireless work ethic - certainly not Ann Coulter.

IF the Ann Coulter quote is not just sarcastic and is a genuine quote of what she has said about Pres Trump, then I would question who it is that has built, and continues to build, the wall? Somebody had to go tru the process of buying off landholders, getting permits from a number of entities involved, procuring the money for construction and getting bids from acceptable contractors. And on and on. Long before Coulter had media access, and for many years, the wall has been a goal of members of both parties. In recent years it is the conservatives in the Republican party that have made building a border wall an imperative for survival of this Republic. Giving Coulter credit for the hard work of Pres Trump and all of the other crusaders for a border wall is beyond ridiculous. She has not purchased or helped in any appreciable way, the current advancement of that wall being built.
As for Sessions, I believe that Pres Trump knows far more about his subterfuge of being an innocent country boy who was an ardent supporter of candidate Donald Trump. For starters, having recused himself from doing the main job he was sent to do, why did he not unrecuse himself, or resign, when he became aware of the depth of the corruption of the Justice dept and FBI? I give neither Coulter or Sessions any credit for the election of candidate Donald Trump to the presidency of the US of America. They are both either opportunists or part of the corrupt forces that were engaged in destroying the presidency of a duly elect US president. Over 62 millions of American citizens voted for him and a very small number of these millions knew anything about Ann Coulter or Jeff Sessions. It always disgusts me when others take credit for what they have not earned.
