According to Cuomo aid Melissa DeRosa, the guideline said:
“Nursing homes should admit any individuals ... from hospitals where a case of COVID-19 was/is present.”
She neglected to say that she was excerpting from the full statement:
“Nursing homes should admit any individuals that they would normally admit to their facility, including individuals from hospitals where a case of COVID-19 was/is present.”
Medicare and Medicaid changed their regs in early March to allow nursing homes to refuse.
Why did Cuomo ignore that?
“CDC guidelines require any newly admitted and readmitted resident with a COVID-19 case to be placed in a designated COVID-19 care unit, while those who have met the criteria to have recovered can return to a regular unit in the nursing home.
The March 13 guidance that Cuomo’s office cited says “a nursing home can accept a resident diagnosed with COVID-19... as long as the facility can follow CDC guidance.”
New York – along with California and New Jersey – went further and turned the guidance into state directives and said at the time that nursing homes cannot refuse to take patients from hospitals solely because they have the coronavirus.”

Cuomo panicked when he relied upon the prophecies of the high priests of The Science(TM). So, to make room in hospitals, he passed a death sentence on nursing home residents. It’s as simple as that.

Whenever there is a royal screwup, everyone looks up the command chain for the nearest Republican, or, lacking that, the nearest White Heterosexual Christian Male, and dumps all the blame on him.
Remember Katrina?
Sometimes common sense, good judgment and wisdom takes precedent.
I’ve never been in military but what I’ve seen on TV, our military men in war will use common sense instead of following a particular order from above. Cuomo does not have common sense.

1. What day did CDC issue the nursing home guidelines and what did the guidelines say?
2. What day did the Javits Center Hospital, USN Comfort, Samaritan Purse hospital, the Brooklyn field hospital (that was never used) become available?
3. What day did Cuomo issue the order requiring nursing homes to take covid positive patients?
4. What were the other states that issued similar orders forcing nursing homes to take covid positive patients?
News should be for the purpose of informing people. Instead, the journalists are too lazy and only tell half the story or less.
He is evil.

Must have been some inbreeding down the line in the Cuomo clan.
