I've spent most of my life in Illinois, mostly in "red" parts of what is called downstate. Back in the 1980's, a Democrat from Chicago ran for a state-wide office, and the local newspaper headline was "Democrat visits McHenry County". We all laughed, because the first thought was that "She had to be visiting, because there are no Democrats living in McHenry County."

Then the housing boom hit our area, people moved from Chicago, the democrats accumulated to the point where some group that called itself "McHenry County Democrats" had enough people to have an annual picnic, and the next thing you know the Chicago suburbs and collar counties started electing Democrats.

You may be correct about people moving from a Blue area turning Red in their voting habits, but please be so kind as to point out where this happened. I have not seen it myself, but I am always happy to learn new facts.

My first half of life was within earshot of Chicago. I’m familiar with McHenry, Dekalb, Kane, Will, Kankakee Cos. I miss ‘em in the fall.

Those are the peeps who would tend to flee-—especially Illinois. From those I know, they won’t be dragging liberalism with them, wherever they go. I’m not in close contact any longer, however.

As for evidence, there is little yet. Downstate Illinois is damn fed up with liberalism....that much I know. I have hope sanity will prevail by November. Ds are helping the cause.

Also, the Mellenials moving into red states head right for the blue enclaves, like Austin, Texas or Orlando, Fla, or Nashville, Tenn, or Asheville, or Durham NC...

The rot then eats its way into suburbia of those growing blue cities...
