On the first Saturday in May this year, about 1,000 people gathered at the Kentucky Capitol to protest Gov. Andy Beshears (D) handling of the coronavirus pandemic with his orders to close businesses and public activities.
Many in the crowd did not wear masks, ignoring a strong recommendation by the Democratic governor to curb the spread of the virus. Most did not follow Beshears call to stay at least 6 feet apart. Some waved Confederate flags. One sign called the governor Adolph Beshear.
One of the speakers at the gathering was Republican state Rep. Savannah Maddox, a freshman lawmaker who is not shy about speaking her mind, which often makes her critics cringe.
After denouncing Beshears COVID-19 policies, she loudly proclaimed, Nobody is ever going to force me to get a vaccine. Several in the crowd responded to her comment with yeahs.
...
Her critics might bristle even more when they hear that Maddox says she is humbled by many who have encouraged her to run for governor in 2023 against Beshear.
Yes, some of us have told her she should run for governor, said Tony Doane, a retired GE employee and a member of the Grant County Tea Party.
I told her I see her as Kentuckys next woman governor. She is extremely conservative and Im tired of the baby-murdering governor we have now who goes along with abortion.
Beshear has said he supports Roe v. Wade, the 1972 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that gives a woman the legal right to an abortion.
Maddox political profile has increased with her criticism of Beshears handling of COVID-19 in Kentucky.

Long article with video.
Not a single photo of a Confederate Flag.
I suppose it is now a mandatory prog propaganda procedure to include "waving Confederate flags" in the "opening spin paragraph."
.
Governor of Michigan does exactly this when talking about the protests, first thing out of her mouth is they are waving flags with swasticas, they are waving confederate flags they are dangerous!! BITCH not one such flag can be seen ANYWHERE!!!
Lefty media in Ky...
Grateful for some coverage for her though even if its biased.
When you follow the link to the site, the video at the top was produced by Beshear’s team!
Why would Republicans wave the first Democratic Flag?
I would rather wait a couple of years until they find a vaccine and have a chance to fully vet it.
Ive seen the Bars and Stars fly in Northern Virginia, but I dont think Ive ever seen it here in Kentucky. Kentucky was neutral early in the war and in Union hands for the rest of it. Northern Kentucky is more midwestern than southern, although I will deny saying that if quoted.
That’s taking it to a new level...
Anyway, despite the obvious bias there’s some good bits in the article. She seems like a solid conservative and one to watch.

“I would rather wait a couple of years until they find a vaccine and have a chance to fully vet it. “
I feel the same way, especially following the epic failure of one of a prospective SARS vaccines, which actually resulted in a much WORSE illness when animal subjects were infected with a later, mutated disease. That study was actually one of the first things I read when Covid-19 (a later version of SARS) started getting publicity and I thought “Oh, no”.
A photo emerged from the protest showing Maddox with a woman dressed in military gear, carrying a gun and flashing with her hand a white supremacy symbol.
Stupid leftist race baiter. Weve got two counties here in Kentucky jammed with them. I will definitely find out more about this rising star. The weak newspaper smear put me onto her. Thanks, leftist race baiter.
That’s the spirit! :)
She’s hawt...
Not as much as Nancy Mace (Google her) who is running in SC-01 and has a very good chance of winning. Someone else to support!
From the article: Maddox said she will be back next year with a bill to limit the governors overly broad powers during a crisis and initiate a special legislative session if an executive order for an emergency exceeds two weeks.
Every state should do this. I have been hammering our reps to do the same thing. If an emergency is that danged serious, the legislature should approve it every couple of weeks or so.
This crap can’t happen again.
Beshear is another Democrat who has a state deficit in the stratosphere because as the states attorney general, he fought and undermined every effort to revise and renegotiate the ponzi scheme called state retirements.
Kentucky will never thrive because of that albatross hanging over it financially.
