There’s a bit of a difference between letting economic Darwinism run rampant and letting actual Darwinism run rampant in the middle of a pandemic.
Unless there really is a magic money tree nearby, we can’t stay shut down forever. The resulting economic calamity will eventually negatively affect people like you, me and some others on this thread who are actually taking appropriate precautions. It’s bad enough that the virus itself can cause supply disruptions (meat plants, etc.), why should continued shutdowns disrupt them further in some indirect manner?
Why should we unnecessarily suffer because we can’t fix stupid?
