Update on Covid Brain Damage. Now has a 3-stage classification:

“NeuroCovid” classification scheme—as it’s known—provides a solid foundation for future work and investigations into COVID’s long-term effects on the nervous system.

NeuroCovid Stage I: Virus damage is contained to epithelial cells in the nose and mouth, and primary symptoms include loss of smell and taste.

NeuroCovid Stage II: Inflammation begins to flood the body, beginning in the lungs and moving through the blood vessels toward all the patient’s organs. This “cytokine storm” causes blood clots which can result in small or large strokes.

NeuroCovid Stage III: The cytokine storm damages the blood-brain barrier, allowing virus particles to infiltrate the brain leading to seizures confusion, coma, or encephalopathy.

Here is some interesting information regarding homemade mask materials:

https://www.maskfaq.com/test-results

Filti looks promising, and can be purchased here:

https://filti.com/product/filti-face-mask-material/

I am currently trying this. I use cotton masks with pockets and I cut the filti liners to fit, inserting two liners into each mask.

I cannot say how well it works, but it is breathable. It feels more like breathing through a n95 respirator than a cotton or surgical mask alone.

Other than that I cannot say how effective they are, just hoping the above study is accurate.

Very sad about Florida, Texas, and the other states.

We all need to get back to work to the extent possible. If that means full PPE in order to attend work, the US needs to get back to work.

Their is not much I agree with you, but I do agree on the getting back to work. However, I do believe that if there is any hope of keeping the virus from collapsing society we have to test, trace, quarantine outbreaks only, and wear masks.

Many conservatives are obviously not on board with that so I think we are in for a wild ride.

The measures put in place are why this appeared to be a nothingburger to some. Take all measures away and I think it could get ugly.

I wish people weren’t so all or nothing. Liberals are “lock down everything” and conservatives are “do nothing”. I actually think there is a middle ground but we are too divided as a country to go there.

Agreed. There's not much common purpose or goal in the US.

My hope is that those infected did a risk assessment and decided on the most appropriate course of action including steps to minimize the risk of contracting SARS-CoV-2. That way, it was an informed decision. People are responsible for the choices they make is the point.

The people I feel most bad for are the people who get exposed through no fault of their own.

Those of us who have been on these threads for a while have seen public officials make blunder after blunder.

Their most recent failure to control the protests (not to mention the rioting and looting) has doomed their credibility on CV with just about everybody—regardless of political affiliation.

The southern and western states are just gonna have to take the hit in the next couple of months.

I don’t see any good answers here.
