Turkey claims success treating COVID-19 with broad use of drug touted by Trump
Turkey’s Ministry of Health says the relatively low death toll is thanks to treatment protocols in the country, which involve two existing drugs the controversial anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine touted by President Trump, and Japanese antiviral favipiravir.
“Doctors prescribe hydroxychloroquine to everyone who is tested positive for coronavirus” Dr. Sema Turan, a member of the Turkish government’s coronavirus advisory board, told CBS News. Hospitalized patients may be given favipiravir as well if they encounter breathing problems, she said.

Doesn’t look like a second wave.
Looks like a continuation and increase of the first one.

It saddens me to inform you that, after nearly 39 yrs of service to the people of NYC, Chief of Transportation William T. Morris passed away on Saturday from #COVID19.
The condolences & prayers of the entire department are with Billy & his loved ones during this difficult time.
Some covid-19 patients taken off ventilators are taking days or even weeks to wake up
Its a big deal, says a Weill Cornell neurologist. The consequences range from mental fog, and mild memory lapses, to severe neurological problems

Secret document lists locations of Kansas coronavirus outbreaks. Heres what it says
Outbreaks at three Sedgwick County churches collectively infected at least 32 people and resulted in one death. A retirees coffee group in Republic County led to six cases. A keg party in Wabaunsee County was linked to five cases.
According to the list, the five plants with the biggest clusters are:
517 cases and one death linked to Tyson Foods in Finney County
503 cases and four deaths linked to National Beef in Ford County
342 cases and no deaths linked to Cargill in Ford County
317 cases and no deaths linked to National Beef in Seward County
173 cases and one death linked to Tyson Foods in Emporia
When officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) visited National Beefs plant in Ford County on April 24, they found that many people where not covering their noses when wearing a mask and that the plant had limited signage regarding COVID-19 precautions and notices.

The looters/rioters were in Phoenix and Scottsdale.
Some folks were wearing masks, but a lot of folks were not.
The CV “nothingburger” is about to swamp Phoenix hospitals.
The number of new cases per day in NYC has increased since the riots started.
May 31 to June 4: 443 new cases per day
June 4 to June 7: 500 new cases per day
Total hospitalizations (a more precise measure):
June 5: 52,697 (this was the day daily almost doubled—to 84—from the day before)
June 7: 52,905
Increase from June 5 to June 7: 208, or 104 per day
I guess it only makes news if Blasio says “not good” or if the report has the scary word “doubled.”
I am thinking 10 to 20 days we see the number increase in the major cities that had protesting.
We already have a spike here in SC from relaxing rules, and we still have some restrictions in place.
I think SC will let it runs it coarse until it is a threat to the hospital systems. We can not stay lock down for every.
Brazil stops releasing Covid-19 death toll and wipes data from official site
The Brazilian government has been accused of totalitarianism and censorship after it stopped releasing its total numbers of Covid-19 cases and deaths and wiped an official site clean of swaths of data.
Health ministry insiders told local media the move was ordered by far-right president, Jair Bolsonaro, himself and was met with widespread outrage in Brazil, one of the worlds worst-hit Covid-19 hotspots, with more deaths than Italy and more cases than Russia and the UK.

Data from Texas DSHS
MORE evidence smokers are at less risk of Covid-19: Study of 90,000 infected patients in Mexico reveals adults addicted to cigarettes are 23% LESS likely to catch the virus
- The research also showed smokers are less likely to suffer adverse outcomes
- It adds to the theory that smokers are somehow protected from the coronavirus
- International researchers have reported a low prevalence of smokers in patients
- Scientists say nicotine may be able to block the coronavirus from entering cells
- Doctors are keen to start trials of nicotine patches, but advise kicking the habit
I have observed work groups for over 35 years. Typically smokers don’t get the bug of the season like many others. IF they do catch the bug it seriously kicks their ass.

20 days to a month, roughly.
The protesters were young, they will likely be mild cases.
Who they spread it to...likely not.
One of the first deaths in my state was a custodian at a junior college. In early 60’s. infected most likely when the kiddos returned from mardi gras and/or spring break. kiddos probably didn’t do more than sniffle or sneeze.
Hubby doesn’t smoke anymore but he dips.
We’re hoping that’s enough...
Time will tell, for later.
Well, DH just got back from taking his dad to the dr. Weve been able to do telemed up until now, but his bp and pulse has been very low the
last two days. EKG is normal but he has to see a cardiologist next week. Needless to say, doctor visits could be risky for cv at his age (over 80), but it looks like they are taking precautions.
They had them wait in the car to be called in, no waiting room. Everyone wore masks and gloves, including hubby and his dad.
Just got disturbing news from my wife. Her coworker has been out of the office for a week and is showing covid-19 symptoms. They have tested her twice, both came back negative. All of her coworkers are very concern, I am guessing the lady is real sick. I will find out more later.
They are going to do further testing. I am guess they will take a sample from the lungs to confirm if is covid-19.
There was another article posted here stating a person was sick but tested negative many times. They had to take a sample from the lung to confirm.
I wonder if someone with sinus issues, a "mouth breather", would not have much virus in their sinuses?
With many of the kids who had symptoms similar to Kawasaki Disease, they tested negative with the nasal swab, but positive with a serum test. I'm sure there must be some number of adult cases where the lungs are ok, but other organs are attacked. They might even be asymptomatic, or at least not have typical symptoms.
Is she on a ventilator? If shes that sick I hope they are treating it as covid and start hcq/zinc
