I feel bad for Jeff. He was a loyal Republican and early supporter of Trump. He was reworded with a plumb post, in which he should have served well.

But, he was a naif from the Senate club from which he was totally unprepared to handle the viper nest into which he was dropped, complete with a an already underway plan to criminally investigate Trump and Flynn, among others..

Totally out of his depth, he recused, without seeking advice from outside DOJ which he badly needed. There was no legal requirement for him to recuse. He allowed himself to be rolled.

So, he'd probably be OK as rejoining the Senate club assuming he'd be a loyal vote. But I get why Trump would prefer another loyal vote after Sleepy Jeff's gross incompetence

I don’t agree that he was a supporter of President Trump. He pretended to be in order to get close to him and stab him in the back.

“he’d probably be OK as rejoining the Senate”

Except that he’d be a strong critic of all things Trump. His tweet is a prelude to what Alabama, and we, could expect for his entire term. He has no moral compass.
