Your victim score is the deciding factor now.

I have a former friend who is like that, she thinks her opinion matters more because she is female, she is disabled, she was physically abused as a child by her dad, she was molested by a Catholic priest. As far as my worth, none because none of that applies to me except female.

Weird.

Simple. New hires are on probation until they demonstrate ability to perform. Those socially promoted will be gone in short order.

Pretty soon, if you want to go to university in this country, you’d better speak Chinese.

This just ties right in with their agenda that everyone deserves a college education.....regardless if you qualify or not.....College will now be seen as just an extension of high school and also required to attend. There’s a reason they extended health Insurance be paid by parents until 26.

New hires are on probation until they demonstrate ability to perform.

If you go to the HR dept and demonstrate a minority's inability to perform, what do you think happens next?

What happens next is "You have to work harder to bring them along. You need to give more specific direction and celebrate their successes no mater how small. Go back and try again."

For many years, I was an engineering manager in development for a major computer company. Each summer I looked forward to having Summer Student Associates come in and work on some of my back burner projects. We hired the top students from Stanford, Cal, MIT, etc. These “kids” were great. They instantly understood the project assigned. They understood design, instrumentation and experimentation and they worked like dogs. Some even left with a patent application filed at the end of the summer. I loved working with them.

The corporation decided to make the SSA program, a minority EO outreach. So rather than finding the best and brightest, they brought in candidates from lesser schools. I tried for two years and gave up. The students were not prepared to do anything, would not reliably show up for work, were not interested in providing any outcome at the end of the summer. I spent hours coaching on setting goals, developing a plan and schedule and monitoring progress, to no avail. I went to HR to understand how I was supposed to write their end of summer appraisal, when they had basically done nothing all summer. My appraisals were pieces of art, carefully scripted to have any subsequent interviewer read between the lines.

Hmmm…. Was that a micro-aggression?

Same practice with interns in my office. We hired a couple from Rutgers. 4.0 GPA. One with a triple major. They worked out fine. Our HR office hasn’t dumped any losers on us thus far. We’ve had some temps that failed to deliver. Notified their agency. Gone at the end of the week. If you’re not certain, don’t extend an offer. It’s a workplace, not a remedial education enterprise.
