there are some on this very thread who say that these men are racists ho’s intent always was to kill a black man (premeditated murder, not manslaughter), “policing” was just an excuse.

I have no idea what their position regarding black people is and I don't really care. If they were motivated by race then it's irrelevant; Georgia has no hate crime law. I don't think they set out to kill anyone. I think they decided it'd be fun to play vigilante and they screwed up. Now they're likely facing life in prison if convicted.

This is a sobering thought.

Even without ‘fun’ and ‘play’, but a serious attempt to uphold the law is hard to do without screwing up.

And the legal and financial consequences are significant, even for a correct execution (NO pun).
