Connecticut will on Wednesday allow residents to eat in outdoor restaurants and shop inside stores, becoming the last of all 50 states to ease social-distancing orders to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Still, Connecticut officials, as are those in other states, are taking a measured, step-by-step approach to reopening and getting their economies restarted.
Gyms, nail salons, spas, theaters and tattoo parlors and bars that do not serve food will remain closed until at least June 20, unless earlier modified.

And... sure enough, it is! Connecticut sucks.
California is reopening at the end of August....August 31.
Where do you get the “last” thing?
They made a mistake: Should be NED Lamont.
What "reopening"?? Most businesses, hair salons, gyms, pools, restaurants, etc. are still freakin' CLOSED! For the foreseeable future.
Ill take Connecticut over MA. any day. CT. Is way ahead of us. We just started phase 1 which gives us almost nothing.
From the first line in the article:
Connecticut will on Wednesday allow residents to eat in outdoor restaurants and shop inside stores, becoming the last of all 50 states to ease social-distancing orders to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Many parts of California are open and/or sheriffs are defying the governor's orders, and are reopening as they see fit. I thought it was just Los Angeles County that is locked up until August?
Not sure. I’ll check.
It’s easy to do, but you forgot Hawaii. We still have them, are still on lockdown, still have people wearing masks as they exercise in the hot Hawaiian sun, still think the virus is flying around in there air waiting to jump into their lungs. Only the businesses the State deems essential are allowed to open, etc.
But you're right: MA is just as bad as CT. However, aren't your hair salons and barber shops reopening on May 25? CT's are locked up tight until "early June". Maybe longer.
Oh my ! I always thought it was RED Lamont.
Danburian of yesteryear, here ;)
I know, doesn't that suck? I was sort of OK wearing a mask (only when in a store, NOT outside) for awhile, but the minute the temps went up past 80 degrees here, I hated it with a vengeance. Wearing a mask outside -- for the most part -- is ridiculous, IMO.
We live in a semi-rural area, so when we walk outside, we NEVER wear masks outside. Most of the time we don't come within 50 feet of another person.
Of course, these are the places that I would go to, minus the tattoo parlors and bars.
Is the governor a pain in the wazoo?
Yes, he IS “Red Ned” Lamont. Did you escape from CT permanently? You’re smart, if you did.
There are NO sit-down restaurants open in Pennsylvania that I am aware of.
ALL democRAT governors are a pain in the wazoo... they’re more than that: Most of ‘em are outright commies. Not much different from the current governors of NY, NJ, MI, IL, WA, CA, etc.
I listen yo Mark Simone on WOR out of NY. and he made it sound as though most of CT. was opening today. I was jealous, guess he was wrong.
Yes, hair salons and barbershops are supposed to open on the 25th. Thats pretty much it.
Oh, we can get curbside pickup from jewelry stores and some retail shops. Who does that?
New York still has social distancing in place. My county was released to start Phase One from lockdown last Friday, but bottle refund machines in grocery stores are still under quarantine, hair salons, etc. are closed. Cuomo expects people to wear masks in public still. How is this any different than Connecticut?
CT was once a way to escape NY insanity - much lower real estate taxes and no income tax which helped if you worked in NY but traveled a lot in your job. Then it went to hell in a handbasket.
I’m in Contra Costa County in CA and I just read the county’s “health update” yesterday, updated.
The lockdown is still very strict: no “gatherings” of any number outside the family unit. Only essential businesses, outdoor business, and curbside pickup of other businesses. No travel unless “essential” or to “exercise.”
They are finally starting to open state parks’ parking lots this week. No dog parks, no swimming pools, no barbers, no restaurants other than pick up.
Very locked down still (officially anyway).
Most restaurants I know of (and have seen quoted in our local CT news) are MORE than ready to get going, starting with reduced capacity indoors.
