The Lord Provides...have faith

Some folks just can’t buy into faith like that. I never doubted myself that if I tried hard enough, I’d be able to house/clothe/feed my kids.

When they hit elementary school I repeated one thing to them rather often. “If you wanna go to college, you’ll need to get straight A’s and work very hard at it. Daddy never went to college and doesn’t believe in that liberal crap. So if you wanna go, it’s on your dime”

My oldest runs a very successful small business at 22 yrs old she started, now 28, makes 150-200k selling reptiles.

I think my 3rd kid will wanna go to School, and she’s my only liberal child...the others are all red wing conservatives of the highest order.

Amen about college. I homeschooled mine with college prep in mind although it was not required of them.

I told them work hard, save, get good grades, and do things that get you access to grants and scholarships. We signed for student loans with the understanding that the student would pay them back (some risk, sure, they could get severely ill or have an accident, then we’d have to pay).

My perfectly happy kiddos went on to a BS in physics, an EMT certificate, a BS in Computer Science, a BA in English Lit and a cosmetology degree.

I never paid a dime. I did support them with free housing, food, utilities while they did community college stints.

We went on no real vacations and went out to eat maybe twice a year. Well worth it.

And they all vote properly oh yes they do my fellow FReepers.
