Neither do pants, really, but I wear them anyway every day. I find it makes other people feel more comfortable

Yeah I get stressed over the pants thing. Every day I gotta put these things on just to go outside! Or answer the door!

Used to live where it was very warm and humid every day of the year so I took to wearing shorts all the time - but no underwear ever. Gives you a breezy feeling...

Love the post, SquarePants.

I think masks are BS in most applications we are being asked to wear them in. But while this is going on, I wear them when I enter somewhere to put them at ease, not for my protection or theirs.

For example, I have a bike trail near my house, and I have been walking every day. Someone put up signs along the trail with guidelines for social distancing and mask wearing...which I feel is pretty stupid, especially with a 10 knot wind or more blowing. I don't wear a mask as a rule, but I see people that do, and some of them make a point of putting it on as they bike or walk by, which seems completely stupid to me when the wind is blowing hard enough that it makes hearing a podcast through sound cancelling earbuds difficult. I see people leave the trail and walk to the side of the trail to get more distance.

It is all this behavior that makes me wonder about people. It seems like zero common sense. I almost get to the point I don't want to go out in public at all, not because I don't want to wear a mask which is not really an enormous imposition, but because I find it so distressing to see the human behavior associated with it.

And I also feel constant tension at complying with something I believe is being fundamentally misjudged by well meaning people, and deliberately exaggerated by others who I believe have specific reasons for doing so.

I believe that this kind of thing, where people are isolated in their houses 24x7, listening intently to the kind of hysterical pap coming from the media, can push some people over the edge to where they become mentally unstable. I live in a blue state, and there seem to be a lot of people I would just rather not push over the edge. Being among Leftists, I just assume they are living close to the edge of mental instability anyway.

I work in Health Care, and the new normal due to all this hysteria is going to be 24x7 masks in the facilities I have no doubt. I already get a yearly vaccine, which I elect to do simply because I think that is the right thing to do in a hospital environment. If I didn't want to do that, I would wear a mask from October to March (or whatever it was) or I would find other work. Now, I suspect it will be masks all the time.
