The Dan Proft Show (May 15)

This is one of the most heartbreaking podcasts you will ever hear. Dan Proft has numerous audio clips of Beth George speaking about the loss of the Resort Cabin business she has run for THIRTY-ONE YEARS due to Pritzker's ridiculous shut-down orders in Illinois. Fast forward to 4:34 for the Beth George segment. It will probably leave you in tears. I transcribed part of the show that is most heart-breaking.

Dan Proft intro: "Beth George runs a little resort called White Pines for 31 years 100 miles west of Chicago. She made an announcement on Facebook this week about the fate of the White Pines Resort:"

"I'm going to be one of the statistics that don't make it. I'm filing for bankruptcy and having to close down. I'm smart enough to know that the numbers just won't work for being able to reopen. I followed the rules. I believed in "Flatten the Curve" and closing town to save lives, to have enough beds and enough ventilators.

Then everything started to change and I started hearing the rules of what could happen if and when we could never reopen. The numbers won't work for my business. My business is based on volume. I do weddings, Sunday buffets, banquets, graduation parties, retreats, dinner theater and all those require and are based on numbers that are over 50 people.

When Governor Pritzker announced the phases for opening - people won't be able to gather in groups of 50 until there is a vaccine. I can't reopen. I'm the face of the business. I meet with the brides. I'm the hostess on holidays in my restaurant. I introduce the dinner theater.

I've poured my heart and soul into this place and I'm a mess trying to save it (Beth starts crying here). It won't be there any more. All the friends and families and the staff...breaking my heart to have to say this...I promised myself I wouldn't cry, that I could do this and get through this.

My freedom of speech has been silenced. Throughout this I wanted to say "how is it possible that the person that has a business right across the street from me with cabins can be open but I can't? I have the same business. How is it that opening at 25% occupancy in a restaurant could ever work? No one can make money when you have only 25% of the people you normally have coming in there."

Proft ties these tyrannical orders to the latest Peggy Noonan article (yes, Noonan!) where Noonan discusses the tyrannical actions across the land.
