Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that the Senate Intelligence Committee will vote to advance the nomination of Rep. John Ratcliffe to serve as director of national intelligence.
Ratcliffe, a Texas Republican, is expected to win approval from the Senate Intelligence Committee after promising the panel to act independently of President Trump and deliver the unvarnished truth.
If confirmed by the Senate, which appears all but certain, Ratcliffe will take over for acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell.

Normally these same pantywaist Senators would be virtue-signalling on their no votes.
But Trump put them in a pincer move. Reject Ratcliffe and Grenell is extended. And they HATE Grenell!
Hate to see Grenell depart, for anyone.
I’ll predict that Grenell will be used over and over for occasions like this.
The Art of the Deal.
I hope so, the guy is smart and fearless.
I note your byline; isn’t it interesting that it hit Iranian and Chinese politicians pretty hard?
That was quick
Well since it originated in China and only top Iranians traveled to China it makes perfect sense.
Ratcliffe is a polite and upright gentleman. But will he have enough Dirty Harry in him to do what is necessary in the Intel post?
The fact that they didn’t want Ratcliffe means he will be great. He was a rockstar during the impeachment proceedings.
Intel committee won’t pass him out. If voted on floor, Lee and Romney will vote against.
“Ill predict that Grenell will be used over and over for occasions like this.”
Yeah. He’ll be known as Trump’s hatchet man. When an agency gets the notice to prepare an office for Grenell to work in, they’ll wet their pants.
“will he have enough Dirty Harry in him to do what is necessary in the Intel post?”
He was pretty bold during the Impeachment hearings. Of course, that’s just one event, so I’m not sure how he’ll be in the long run.
Another bold one during Impeachment was Elise Stefanik, and I think Trump was impressed by her attitude and line of questioning. I’d be surprised if he didn’t give her a position. Not sure how truly conservative she is overall but she did well then.
And if they do that, under the law the acting director can remain for an extended term.
Trump has them by the balls.
Either way it’s short term anyway. The administration ends on January 20th and all would need to be reconfirmed if Trump is reelected.
They really want Grinnell gone
