CNN anchor Jake Tapper condemned President Trump and his supporters for "launching an unprecedented smear campaign" against political opponents, but he, too, was blasted by critics who alleged he launched "smear campaigns" of his own.
Trump has been on the offensive in recent days after it was revealed that several top Obama officials -- including former Vice President Joe Biden -- had requested the unmasking of former national security advisor Michael Flynn in the weeks leading up to his inauguration.
Tapper, who previously had scant coverage of the unmasking revelations, lumped what he described as a "conspiracy theory" with other attacks Trump and his ardent supporters have leveled against political foes, including a meme shared by Donald Trump Jr. mocking Biden's "creepy" behavior with children.

CNN is ATT
CNN would be dead & buried if it weren’t for ATT.
ATT must be broken up.
I am with Elon Musk here: “What I find most surprising is that CNN still exists.”
It is about time that every legitimate news organization take on “Jake The Snake” and expose his own smear campaigns against the Trump Administration and other conservative American patriots.
This guy is so sleazy that he’s worse than a greased pig at a BBQ.
AT&T is broken up. It used to be Western Electric, one big happy telephone company. Then it got broken up into AT&T and the baby bells. Better living through government intervention.
ATT is a nationally licensed telecom & cellular provider that owns CNN.
I can’t look at Tapper because he always looks like he’s constipated and confused?
Liberal hypocrites.
I despise arrogance. The liberal media talks down to everyone. Their body language sends negative messages to their audiences. Most of them are almost always wrong, never right. Why put ourselves through watching their lectures? It is an absolute waste of time.
A long time ago, Tapper was on FoxNews. At the time, I thought he was a pretty balanced anchor. But after he jumped to CNN (Like C Cuomo did) I realized he was really a flaming Leftist and his seeming neutral stance was simply because he wouldnt say anything against Leftists or Rightys.
Hasn’t the entire media/dem complex, with the exception of a few on FOX, been engaged in a continuous smear campaign against Trump for 5 years?
But you are missing the point when you say it should be broken up. It already has and it turned out like crap for a lot of people, both employees and customers. Now you want the government to do it again because they did such a great job the first time?
“Legitimate news organization” wins oxymoron of the day.
Telecom shouldn’t have the right to own the news in addition to the federally licensed infrastructure. And that includes Comcast.
Disney owns ABC, and I’m not saying Disney should be broken up.
Carlos Slim owns a Mexican Telecom and a big chunk of the New York Times. Jeff Bezos is working on owning the world but he already has the Washington Post as his mouthpiece. How much are you willing to crack down? I don’t really care about AT&T or any of the others but when you use government as a weapon against one thing then you can’t really complain when someone else uses it as a weapon targeting something you care about. I was around when Western Electric got broken up. About 400,000 people got laid off before they finally got to me, and the end result was the mess you now call AT&T. Be careful what you wish for.
Great points.
>> How much are you willing to crack down?
Not that much. My demand is to disallow the ownership of media for those that control the telecom infrastructure. That’s it.
Yeah, I make the tiresome, emphatic overtures that the telecom operators should be “broken up”, but I’m really concerned about two things: 1) the utility nature of telecom controlling the news narrative, and 2) the subscriber ignorance that’s inevitably supporting the likes of CNN and MSNBC — not that much different than the conservative taxpayer funding NPR.
An analogy. Image all the major arteries you relay on for car travel are owned & operated by private corporations. That could be a good thing in terms of efficiency. The revenue is handled by things like EZ-Pass. Give or take a 15% cost deviation from the ordinary, it’s not something to lose sleep over. But image your commute being subject to an endless array of billboards mocking Christianity, promoting Planned Parenthood, belittling 2A supporters, demanding unproven vaccines... Now is that something your credit card should be charged for?
