I figured you would sidestep the question.

Well, maybe not, you post more a ‘move the goalposts’ kind of lies.

I haven't moved the goal posts.

The goal posts for me were always to beat the virus. I've never signed up for herd immunity being the only way through this. And I won't.

Even heavily hit states like NY are at best only 25% of the way there. We already have 92,000 dead. If nothing improves on treatment or prevention then we're looking at at least another 240,000 dead if we go the herd immunity route.

Totally unacceptable.

And who knows how many with permanent lung or other organ damage.

I was for stronger travel bans and strict quarantines to prevent it from ever getting a foothold in the US in the first place.

And I was and still am for masks for everybody in areas where it is circulating.

I didn't call for shut downs, but I supported them once they occurred with the knowledge that they couldn't last forever even if the virus didn't go away. I think the lock downs would have been more effective if everyone had worn masks during them when out and around others.

The lock downs did flatten the curve. None of our hospital systems were overwhelmed, a very good thing. The lockdowns:

The economy was going to shut down in part on it's own. Airline's weren't shut down by government but their traffic is off 90%. Restaurant volume was falling prior to the shut down. People were calling in sick to avoid being around other people.

So it's not clear to me what the difference in cost between a government shut down and the shut down that was occurring anyway is.

A study from 1918 showed that cities that did lock downs fared better than cities that didn't economically.

I think if we had all adopted mask wearing in late Fehruary, we might have prevented a shut down and saved a lot of lives.

I still call for masks to be worn by everyone in any area where the virus is transmitting. It's a small inconvenience that likely will help beat this virus.
