With all the attention focused Tuesday on Republican Mike Garcias smashing win in the special U.S. House election in Californias 25th District (Los Angeles), it was not surprising that the national press pretty much overlooked the big Republican win for state senate in the Golden States 28th District (Riverside).
With nearly all votes counted, conservative State Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez rolled up 56 per cent of the vote over Democrat and Riverside County Board of Education member Elizabeth Romero.
The special election was called to fill out the remainder of the term of Republican State Sen. Jeff Stone, who resigned earlier this year to become regional director of the U.S. Department of Labor. Melendez's winning percentage was four percentage points above that of Stone in his last trip to the polls.
Assemblywoman Melendez was and is a superstar public servant, California State GOP Chairman Jim Brulte told Newsmax, She will serve her constituents well.
A U.S. Navy veteran who earned her college degree nights from Chaminade University of Honolulu, Melendez flew on covert missions in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm and became fluent in Russian.

Nice story but California is hopeless.
Republicans have figured out how to play the voter harvesting game too.
Trend leading to the destruction of the Democrat Party. I foresee thousands of staffers joining the breadlines.
Next primarying the Republicrats like the pansy wanker Graham.
put out republican pro-life Hispanics and we can take over the state
Maybe its a sign that the draconian measures instituted by Dem governors will start driving people away from the Democrats
Hey, I’ll take having two democrats being defeated in Commiefornia, any day. Baby steps, but something to build on.
Yeah, that’s so important.
She got her degree after being a navy pilot?

“Nice story but California is hopeless.”
Nonsense. Everything has to have a beginning, and every journey has to start somewhere.
Covert missions over Iraq and learned Russian.
Maybe NSG?
“Maybe its a sign that the draconian measures instituted by Dem governors, (Covidictators)
will start driving people away from the Democrats.”
They have probably lost most independent voters, and some liberal voters with half of a brain are souring on the Covidictators.
The closing of the Cal State universities and local colleges has been a big wake up call for many college students and their parents. This week they were told that there will only be classes via the internet for at least the first semester.
Its another indication that voters are trending away from the democrats.
Ok, now that I have my flame retardant pajamas on, let me try this crazy conspiracy theory on you.
California is a safe bet for Democrat control so one or two small losses won’t tip the balance.
So Democrats allow this election loss to happen so they can use this to say, “See! Voter ballot harvesting isn’t just so Democrats can steal elections!”
And Congress allows the use of mail-in ballots for the 2020 election and they find boxes of ballots in several battleground states that steals the election for Biden.
(Flame On!)
She wasn’t a pilot. She was an enlisted linguist/translator who flew on “spy” missions.
3 for 3 in the middle of a pandemic. I like the trend. Whats that you say? Trump is finished?
She was probably what we used to call the Air Dale Navy Security Group, not a pilot, with a Top Secret Crypto clearance. They flew over and around listening and monitoring chatter from the unfriendliest.
The fact that she was a Russian lingy flying in Iraq air space will get a big fat “NO COMMENT” from me.
