Can you hear them singing?

Day O = The Banana Boat Song, Harry Belafonte
Day-o, day-o
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Day, me say day, me say day, me say day
Me say day, me say day-o
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Work all night on a drink of rum
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Stack banana 'til de mornin' come
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Come, mister tally man, tally me banana
Daylight come and me wan' go home

Daylight come and me wan' go home…

Do Russians like bananas?

Either THAT song or the VOLGA BOATMAN.

if a Russian sings something about rum that would be "Fifteen Men On the Dead Man's Chest", I can't imagine we many people know anything other than that. Even that song is something bookish. I think that these three would be more frequent:

1.The sea has spread wide
English lyrics

2. A sailor from Ordynka (a street in Moscow)
English lyrics

3.Yablochko (The little apple)
English lyrics

And the third is the most popular.
