Senate Majority Leader McConnell Pronounces Dem $3 Trillion Stimulus Bill 'Dead on Arrival'
PJ Media ^ | 05/14/2020 | Rick Moran

Posted on 05/14/2020 6:31:17 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Republican Senate caucus took House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s $3 trillion extravaganza of waste and delusion and declared the package “dead on arrival.”

In truth, it was dead before it was born. Donald Trump doesn’t want another massive bailout bill and Mitch McConnell isn’t keen on the idea either. So, with an eye on November — and as a sop to their rabid, radical constituencies — House Democrats loaded up a “stimulus” bill with every left-wing fantasy, desire, wet dream, and “transformation” of the U.S. they could muster and threw it against a wall to see what would stick.

It didn’t work.

The Hill:

McConnell, speaking to reporters after a closed-door caucus meeting, said Republicans would “insist on narrowly targeted legislation.”

“What you’ve seen in the House [from] Nancy is not something designed to deal with reality, but designed to deal with aspirations. This is not a time for aspirational legislation, this is a time for practical response to the coronavirus pandemic,” McConnell said, referring to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).

For Democrats, this is no time for “narrowly targeted legislation” or budget and debt concerns, or even reality itself. Reality left the building a long time ago for Democrats and with this stim bill, they’ve given free rein to their most exhilarating fantasies and darkest nightmares.

But the bill effectively hit a buzzsaw among Senate Republicans, whose support would be needed to even get the bill scheduled for a vote on the floor, much less to pass the measure.

Sen. John Thune (S.D.), the No. 2 Republican in the upper chamber, argued that the House bill was not designed to pass, calling it a “messaging exercise.”

Almost all the deep blue state governors have shut down schools for the rest of the year, so there won't be any problem with schools opening with “a fraction of the teachers” anyways.
As for the rest of it, with police etc being laid off in “shutdown forever” states, I couldn't care less.
Look, if Garcetti, DeBlasio, Cuomo, Whitmer , Wolf et al want to deliberately kill their economies to get Trump in November, let them deal with the consequences.

Painful for who?
Red states are opening up everywhere and generating tax revenues, even as deep blue states like NY/NJ cower in fear under their beds, refuse to open up and get to work or generate tax revenues to run their states. Instead of they hold out their hands and beg for federal bailouts.
Not gonna happen. New York can lockdown till November if they like. Let's see how DeBlasio likes it when angry and hungry New Yorkers come for his head.

LOL - read my tagline. It's not a new tagline. And guess what - Trump "give me negative interest rates - THE GIFT!!!" will sign it willingly.

Funny how people who screamed bloody murder in 2009 at $1 trillion and crucified Obama in stimulus will fall all over themselves and look the other way and whistle past the graveyard now because we have different leadership.

It's not going to be in the 'shutdown forever' states. The economy has crashed. Tax revenue for every state in the union is going to be down by a considerable percentage. By this fall all states are going to be faced with difficult decisions on what they can fund and what they can't. Cuts will be painful, and the Democrats will be there saying they tried to provide help.

It was less about saving Trump from a veto than saving Congress from an override vote.

The bottom line is that most of the people in this country have no idea about economics. Basically, this just like charging up several credit cars to the max. One day, the Man will come calling.

Red states are opening up everywhere and generating tax revenues...

There are 36 million unemployed and the economy has crashed. If you don't think that's not going to cause revenue shortfalls in Red states as well as Blue states then you're kidding yourself.

Revenue shortfalls have been there forever. But there's revenue shortfalls and then there is revenue shortfalls.
The red states are busy opening up going on for weeks already. They are generating tax revenues.
Deep blue NY NJ Massachusetts, Illinois California are doing the exact opposite with no intention whatsoever of opening up any time soon.
California already has a budget hole of $54 billion as at last week, yet the LA mayor is taking nonsense about not opening up till a cure is found?
I repeat: NO STATE BAILOUTS.
Its not like President Trump needs to win any votes in NY/NJ. F**k em.

t’s not going to be in the ‘shutdown forever’ states.

Of course it is.
You don't make any tax revenues if you say you are shutting down till there is a cure like,. LA mayor Garcetti is saying. You make that decision, you live with the consequences.

Tax revenue for every state in the union is going to be down by a considerable percentage.

Texas, Georgia other red states are well on their way to getting back to normal.
South Dakota North Dakota Wyoming Nebraska as well as 4 other red states never even had blockdowns at all in the first place. It's been business as usual.
By the elections in November, most red states will be happily generating tax revenues as usual, with most people back to work, even as New York sinks into poverty and dispair with Increasing suicides. But hey, their governor Cuomo is “the sexiest man alive” apparently, according to New Yorkers. What could possibly go wrong?
Chuckle.

Yeah..to illegal aliens, for voter fraud through compulsory mail in balloting, for abortionists etc. Have you even had a look at Pelosi’s bill? It's full of campaign ad clips for Republicans.

As well as campaign issues for Democrats and pork for their base. Which was the reason for it to begin with.

Why should President Trump and Republicans care about the Dems base, especially in states like NY/NY?
They never vote for Republicans. They are Trump haters. They are the last people Trump should worry about.
President Trump needs to focus like a laser beam on bringing back the economies of the red states, get them firing on all cylinders before November and allow the deep blue states wallow in their own vomit.
It's not the total amount employment that will matter in November, it's the unemployment in the states that Trump won. That's why the push back in Michigan Pennsylvania and Wisconsin matter.
New York State doesn't count as far as Trump’s reelection is concerned, even if they have 40% unemployment.
