Correct. But the unmask request can be for any prior intel. January 12th is the day that the Washington Post reported the story. Who knows...
The Kislyak phone call was Dec. 29th. Most likely they were looking into previous contacts with the Russians and Turks, and possibly Italians, as those ambassadors also unmasked NSA reports on Flynn. I think they knew who Flynn had met with and were looking for any damning information to destroy him, found nothing, and then had to manufacture info with Kislyak.
