“If I am jogging down the street and two fat rednecks in a pickup truck chase me down and confront me with a shotgun.”

What about two skinny rednecks? Would that make a difference?

If not, why make a reference to weight at all?

You may have meant no offense. You probably have just been programmed by the media to host stereotypical prejudices.

It may: If the skinny rednecks appear fit, then I may not attempt to wrestle the gun away and overpower them. But if I am a young fit guy and I am confronted by two obese men who appear to have the muscle tone of jelly and no stamina, then I may try to overpower them rather than run at the risk of getting shot in the back.
