When Richard Demsick learned of the killing of Ahmaud Arbery, he immediately thought about the privilege he had as a white man.
Arbery, a 25-year-old black man, was shot dead while jogging in February after being chased by two men — Gregory and Travis McMichael — who said he looked like a break-in suspect.
In a video that trended after Arbery's death, the McMichaels could be seen pursuing Arbery in their truck while Arbery ran. Travis McMichael left the truck holding a gun and, after a brief struggle, Arbery was dead. The McMichaels later told the police they believed Arbery resembled a man behind a string of residential break-ins. They were charged with murder last week.
Demsick, 34, a former pastor in Vero Beach, Florida, said he felt that it didn't matter what he wore or how "suspicious" he looked — his whiteness alone was enough to protect him from meeting the same fate as Arbery.

His privilege would protect him there too.
In fact, he should do it while wearing expensive tennis shoes.
He should also have money visibly stuffed into his pockets.
Of course, he should also have a boom box on one shoulder that loudly plays the song, “Play that funky music white boy”.
He didn't get killed for looking "suspicious." He got killed for attacking a man holding a shotgun.
What he would have gotten for looking "suspicious" was being talked to, and possibly held until the cops arrived.
But he *CHOSE* to attack a man with a shotgun, and the consequence of doing that is at worst death, and at best, disfigurement and possibly amputation.

I think I’ll run through a neighborhood carrying a stolen VCR. Maybe a Betamax. I might get put in a straightjacket for that at the very least.
What he should have done is run through a black neighborhood carrying the TV and see if his “whiteness” gave him any “privilege”. I’m betting he would have gotten his a$$ kicked for his trouble, and his TV stolen along with his wallet.
I know a bunch of neighborhoods here in the Northeast where he (a white man) could not walk through without his head being smashed in by the TV.

A real idiot...virtue signaling at its best....did he bum rush, assault, and attempt to disarm an angry man with a shotgun...Arbery is no different than trayvon, or mike brown...tried to disarm someone with a gun in a tense situation...and the end result was the same...
