Caracas has accused Colombia and US of plotting to overthrow president Maduro; says military found abandoned vessels in Orinoco river
Venezuelas military says it has seized three abandoned Colombian light combat vessels that soldiers found while patrolling the Orinoco river on Saturday, several days after the government accused its neighbour of aiding a failed invasion plot.
In a statement, the defence ministry said the boats were equipped with machine guns and ammunition, but had no crew, adding they were discovered as part of a nationwide operation to guarantee Venezuelas freedom and sovereignty.
According to a preliminary investigation the boats were dragged away by strong river currents, Colombias navy said in a statement.

Venezuela is a beautiful country, with huge natural resources, a potentially magnificent fishing industry, and a soil and climate conducive to growing just about anything.

i wonder if maduro’s hold on power is so tenuous that he feels it’s necessary to go to war with a neighbor as a distraction and is in the process of manufacturing a pretext?
I think you are on to something. Colombia’s army is twice the size of Venezuela’s as is Brazil’s, both countries could easily make a military action on Venezuela. Not sure how they get along with the surrounding countries or how much they fear Russia and China!
Columbian mercenaries were arrested a few days ago.
