Obviously what happened in northern Italy in early March played a huge role in provoking the overreaction. Images of Italian hospitals totally overrun by patients, with folks dying untended or barely tended on the floors of hospital hallways scared people. It’s easy now to post things like “Trump was duped,” but that’s unfair as he thought he was doing the right thing to avoid having the Italian scenario play out here.

I did not agree with but I understand the early response. But the continuing lockdown is evil. And Trump should say so. The stat comparison between jobs destroyed, and deaths and confirmed cases are horrifying.

I don’t think that Trump was “duped” by anyone. He’s proven to be a shrewed operator, and is several steps ahead of his competition at every turn.

Just look at how he played the ‘Rat Governors. “I’m in charge, he says” “No, WE’RE in charge”, the Rats said.

“OK, it’s on you then guys. Let me know if you need any help, I’ll be here to catch you when you fall on your butts again”.

He’s like any other top executive I’ve ever known: asks the opinion of the best minds he can find, and then makes up his own mind.

And look at what he’s managed with the federal bureaucrats at the FDA and CDC: he at first trusted them to do their jobs, but very quickly when they failed, he broke down barriers, smoothed approvals, and unleashed the vast creativity and resources of America’s private industry.

Perfect in hindsight? No, but darn good work in the heat of battle.

The the Dem governors getting a taste of executive power didn’t help either. In CT restaurants may reopen outdoor seating May 20, but a 50% capacity and 6 ft apart while requiring patrons to wear a mask when entering or using the bathroom for safety but it apparent poses no risk to eat with your friends and not wear one.
