I always thought perjury traps were just standard procedure for the FBI. If they think you are guilty or deserve punishment but know they can’t really prove it in a court they set you up for process crimes, namely lying to them about something. Then they pressure you to plead. What % of federal crimes ever go to trial? 2% or something?

I think Flynn and his new attorney have just broken the paradigm. Far fewer will be willing to cop a plea in the future methinks.
It is a fairly standard procedure, but NOT against the brand new NSA Director as part of an effort to hide the FBI’s own political involvement in a coup attempt.
