Has anyone heard of outbreaks with multiple deaths in retirement communities that are not nursing homes? It does not seem to be that deaths are occurring in places where people, no matter how old, are still moving around, even if on electric scooters. Every death is a loss but how many of the deaths in nursing homes are among people who were already bedridden, perhaps already close to death?

Ever since the initial request that we do various things to slow the spread, I have wanted to have data about many of the characteristics of people who are dying. I thought back then that we would need that information in order to make informed decisions about going out depending on our own situation. I never dreamed that we would be asked to stay in our homes for eight weeks already. We still need that information and wonder why we are not being allowed to know it.

I have a friend who lives in a senior community apartment building. As far as I know, there have been no cases of COVID. He’s in a hotspot area.

He’s about 80 and the lack of real movement has resulted in back spasm which makes movement very difficult. Sort of a catch-22

He and his wife are in good spirits. We spoke earlier this week.
