The Covid 19 virus is specific.
It is already mutating out in the wild. There appear to be multiple strains, and some are milder or deadlier than others.
Influenza is a better example than the cold, and I already mentioned its many mutations that require new vaccines every year.
However, my point was not to downplay a potential vaccine, but to argue against remaining in any deep lockdown awaiting a vaccine.
It could be a long wait, or not be as effective due to mutations.

Herd immunity need not be a long process unless the curve is being flattened. Flattening the curve means extending the time to herd immunity.

There’s kind of a ‘flipped’ implication also - it’s not 66% of people who are at home getting it...although some people may take it that way (particularly the FluBros). What’s IMPORTANT is how many (total) people would have gotten the virus if no one stayed at home, versus how many are getting it with the stay-at-home orders.
Having posted many articles here and reading the comments I see firsthand that writers can put what they want you to take away in the title and then contradict it in the body and it works with many.
