People came out en masse to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in East San Jose and downtown Tuesday, spurning pleas from civic leaders to stay home and safely honor the holiday amid the coronavirus pandemic. Crowds of people and cars prominently bearing Mexican flags flocked to parking lots at the intersection of Story and King roads, which was also the site of packed weekend pre-holiday celebrations that elicited safety concerns from city officials and community leaders.

And big bad brave Governor Hair Gel was nowhere to be found.
That aint a surprise
I work in a, shall we say, construction-adjacent industry. More specifically, my employer sells chain-link fence materials.
Most of our customers employ Mexicans, and many of them don’t seem to care about social distancing.

Bob Bitchin loves illegals.
Cinco de Mayo was very quiet around here, which is fine with me. In the San Fran. Bay Area (Marin County).
I don’t mind not having a certain neighbor blast his tape of Mariachi music at 11:PM, like other years.
He usually gets the “loud music fever” out of his system after about 45 minutes, so I have learned to work with it.
Plus, we have a new apartment manager, so I can’t tattle on him as easily as before.
“Police Chief Eddie Garcia has said officers would not risk anyones safety with confrontations based on health-order violations.
Initial reports from SJPD show that officers made one felony and one misdemeanor arrest and issued three criminal citations, four traffic citations, three municipal code citations, and had three vehicles towed.”
And you can sure tell when the reporting is done by a liberal rag, the S J Mercury News, to protect the locals and the politicians that did not enforce their own rules.

They could have invited ICE to set up checkpoints into and/or out of the event. A win-win for all — city shuts down event and Mexicans too stupid to realize they don’t belong in the US get rounded up and deported back to their beloved Mexico. ...and for each deported, that is a job opened up for a legal resident or US citizen.
Totally can picture your guy, with a bright green and orange metallic 77’ Thunderbird dropped down to the pavement, with micro wheels, to blast a little Hispaniola for an 8 block radius from yo hood!
If you live in Marin, it’s either the Canal in San Rafael or northern Novato. Every other home in Marin is north of $1MM. Average home price is $1.1-1.3MM depending on the source.
Actually looking at the pictures it doesn’t look that bad (except for the Mexican flags). You can go to any Home Depot and see more Mexicans congragating.
But I imagine Cali Gestapo will be cracking down soon 👮📢
Damn, you’re good! Not the exact details, but very close.
Definitely, the loud, gaudy color scheme.
I did live in the Canal Area many years ago. I arrived in Marin the year of the Big Quake in 1989. I now live in a nicer area of San Rafael. An Apartment. I could never afford one of their homes. I’m okay with that.
The crime is sort of low here. Lots of families with kids and cars to be paid for.
One question I NEVER ask around here: “Ola, Esta aqui legalmente o como?” (Hi! Are you here legally or what?”)
Better yet hang a Mexican flag in your business window and OPEN UP no problem!!
Chock full of Liberals
Yes, because Mexico is such a great place.
Kept home of record in Phoenix for 17 years.
When I was a boy, I lived in LA area twice.
But I have also lived in Chicago area 4 times, and the truth is there is a large area there, where while the Hispanic population is not as big, people refuse to speak English no matter what, only fly the Mexican flag, teachers don’t teach English, etc... and it’s almost on par with Phoenix in some respects.
But those cars are hilarious, and the music is actually funny for about 60 seconds, before it drives you insane in the next 60 seconds. So much for noise ordinance...
Still want to know why anyone would celebrate the sinking of a ship full of mayonnaise. Ketchup, a big deal, yes! Mayo, not so much.
