apparently, despite all the claims to the contrary, the IRS isn't using (or at least hasn't used) the direct deposit information from the social security database for folks who received no income tax refund for the tax years of 2018 or 2019, at least that's the case for mrs. catnipman and i and others in the same boat that i've talked to.

but i did find this IRS link, and it did tell me i was eligible for payment but that they had no direct deposit information for me, and that direct deposit of stim payment could be obtained by entering information in the next few webpage forms, so i did that.

in addition to the usual information, you'll need the AGI from your IRS tax filing for the tax year of 2018 or 2019 and the amount you paid (if any), assuming you filed at all. I did all of that and they claimed i was successful in giving them the information so that they could direct deposit my stim payment.

I used the link again after i did the above, and this time they said they would make the direct deposit.

also, they apparently make only a single payment per family, because when i entered the information for mrs. catnipman they said they already had her direct deposit information, and it was the bank account that i had entered for myself. it might be different for couples filing separately, but i don't know.

It’s supposedly structured as a tax credit for 2020 tax year.

You can get it in early 2021 after you file your 2020 return and show less than $150k 2020 joint income.

I won’t get any of my own money back. The least you can do is say “Thank you”.

I honestly didn’t even check. I made 137,000 last year and I don’t think I am even close to being eligible for it. And even though my company has pushed me to PT, I am still making 1500 a week.

We should say ‘thank you’ to you for getting our own money back?

How do you figure?

I found that once you submit your direct deposit information and they say it’s accepted, you can go back in later and they will tell you when the payment is actually going to be made.

Mine should happen tomorrow. We shall see...

Are you married? If so, the limit is $150,000 according to your AGI.

What a bargain!

Some people get $1,200 and the entire Stimulus cost them $20,000

It’s a big ripoff and people are excited.

I need help!!

I just filed my 2018 taxes on April 2 and received a small refund in yesterday’s mail. When I go to Get My Payment and put in my info I get the message that says You Are Eligible and Give us your bank info. Then I fill in the bank info and it tells me it doesn’t match what they have for me. But that is what they had for me as they sent me my refund in 2017 electronically and I have the same bank account. I didn’t get my 2018 return I referenced above electronically as it’s not an option when you are filing for past years.

Anyway, what to do? I’ve tried ten days in a row. At this point I just want them to mail my stimulus payment but I can’t see where that is an option.

Advice? Bueller?

We’re supposed to get our money tomorrow according to the IRS tool. We had to put all that info into their system, which I thought they had already. So aggravating.

I checked everyday for weeks and always got the cannot determine eligibility at this time message. Two weeks ago it finally said eligible and asked for my DD info. Then for another week it said it would update the page when the deposit was scheduled. End of last week it said deposit scheduled for May 6. Money was deposited today.

Don’t know what all went into the process but it did happen.

It is going into my savings to pay the taxes I will owe when I file in July :(

I filed my return and got my refund. I haven’t received a stimulus check and have no idea if I’m supposed to. My taxable income was about 55K if I recall. My girlfriend got a direct deposit stimulus payment, but her income is much lower.

Same here, I don’t really need it, but I could put it to good use if I got it. I’m retired, so don’t know if I’m even supposed to get one.
